Hydrangea leaves are natural sweetener
Hydrangea Tea, also called amacha in Japan, direct translated to "sweet tea".
It is a variety of the mountain hydrangea which contain a substance called phellodulcin, releasing sweetness through fermentation.
The sweetness is said to be about 1,000 times sweeter than sugar!

In the past where sugar was not available, the natural sweetness in the sweet tea is extremely valueable. There are legends which says:

How to enjoy Yuzu Sweet Hydrangea Tea
- Put the tea in a teapot or other container and pour hot water over it.
- Cover and wait about 1-2 minutes before serving.
*On hot days, put one tea bag in a 1L container, pour hot water and refrigerate until ready to drink!
