Kumano town is amongst the four prestige brush making regions in Japan.

Withstanding the test of time as calligraphy brushes culture evolved in Japan over centuries as it became its own.

In 1975, the brushes from Kumano were designated as a "Traditional craft" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and is largest producer of brushes in Japan.

How to take care of the brush?

1. Thoroughly rinse off the soap from the brush.
2. Squeeze the tip firmly from the root of the tip to the tip of the hair so that the bristles are straight, as twisting the tip may cause the bristles to fall out.
3. Hold the shaft and shake to release any water remaining on the tip.
   The tips will come apart, but there is no need to reshape them.
4. Hang to dry with the tip of the ear facing down.
