Embracing the Last Chance of Savour Fresh Peach

Japan has four seasons, and each season brings forth delicious fruits.
Due to this, the period of peak freshness for a specific fruit is short, giving rise to a culture of enjoying fruits in their prime.

The peak season for peaches is exceptionally short, with just about 10 days to harvest fruit from a single tree.
Due to the brief nature of its prime season, we're cutting off August 15th as the final peach pre-order chance of the year.
Don't miss the chance to enjoy pre-orders of peaches directly from Tokyo's largest fruit market, Ota Market, before this year's season comes to a close!

Enhancing Peach Delight Through Fruit Knowledge

Each fruit has its own unique characteristics, and possessing the knowledge to understand these traits and how to savor them allows for a more delightful gastronomic experience.

Peaches are a type of fruit that can be enjoyed even more deliciously by paying special attention to their storage method.
Peaches are fruits that "ripen" over time, so it's important to accurately determine the "perfect eating moment."

A Guide to Optimal Ripeness

If the surface of a peach yields slightly to gentle finger pressure (Not too strong!!) and forms a light indentation, it signifies ripeness.
Additionally, when the skin easily peels away by pulling it with your hand, it's a sign of full ripeness.

A perfectly ripened peach allows a knife to glide in smoothly without crushing, maintaining its shape and integrity.

When perfectly ripe, you can smoothly make a diagonal cut towards the pit, and the knife will slide through effortlessly.

How to Storage Significantly Impacts their Quality

Proper storage methods are crucial to enjoying peaches to their fullest flavour potential!

⚠️Wait to Enjoy till Perfectly Ripen⚠️

1. Storing peaches at room temperature ( in a cool, dark place)
Storing peaches at room temperature (Please be careful of the temperature rises during the daytime) enhances their softness and sweetness.
Wrapping peaches in newspaper or similar material can protect them from drying out and getting damaged.

2. Softening around the stem

When stored at room temperature, peaches gradually become softer around the stem end (bottom). To determine their ripeness, gently touch the area around the stem with your fingers; when it feels slightly soft, it's ready to eat.

3. Chill in the refrigerator just before consumption

Apart from the touch test, you can also tell if the peach is ripe when the skin appears slightly translucent.
If you prefer to chill the peach in the refrigerator, it is best to do so about 2-3 hours before eating.
