Nagano Acacia Honeycomb
A very rare Acacia Honey Comb, 100% purely Nagano prefecture made.
It's limited as it is so rare that production cannot keep up with the demand even in Japan!
Due to the aging of beekeepers and the decrease in successors, honey production in Japan is said to be on the decline, and Japanese-made honey has become a precious commodity.
In such a situation, they are committed Japanese-made honey and continues to raise its own bees to produce honey.
What they think the customers want most is the safety of honey.
Using the same production methods that have remained unchanged since the farm's founding, they deliver safe and delicious 100% Japanese-made honey with a focus on quality and taste.
How is honeycomb rare?
It takes an enormous amount of time and labor for bees to build a hive.
Honeycomb is "fully matured honey" that is stored in the hive and covered with beeswax when the honey collected by the bees becomes concentrated.
Beekeepers collect the honey in a centrifuge without destroying the hive. Then, by returning the empty hive, the bees will store "honey" again.
However, if honey is taken from the hive, the bees must start building the hive from scratch, so from the standpoint of productivity, it is more efficient to collect honey than to collect hive honey.
For this reason, honeycomb honey is rarely sold in the market.
By eating the honeycomb as it is, it has a higher flavor and nutritional value (it contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, polyphenols, and even propolis components) than regular honey.
It is also pure honey with no additives.
Extraordinary commitment for an environment creation
Soon after taking over from the first predecessor, the current second-generation owner of the garden, Mr. Ogihara launched a honey farm project.
It is a grand plan to create a forest where honeybees can fly around.
He purchased a vast mountain forest, planted horse chestnut seedlings and acacia trees, and introduced honeybees.
It took about 30 years to open Japan's first honey farm.
At Ogihara bee farm, they handle the entire process from training the bees to shipping the products.
The freshly squeezed raw honey that Ogihara, who knows honey inside and out, collects from his own farm has the distinct flavors of Nagano flowers and grasses.
Taking advantage of the fact that Japan has four seasons, different plants are grown in each season.
There is no time off in the year.
They grow apples and cherry blossoms in the spring, clover and acacia in the summer, and buckwheat in the fall.
Uncle Bee Beard
Mr. Ogihara, the owner of Ogihara Bee Farm, is famous as Uncle Bee Beard.
He's an active honey collector.
One time, he have had customers question,
"Are you sure it's honey you collected yourself?"
He sometimes had customers look at him with suspicion.
He wondered if there was some way he could make a statement that he is a beekeeper and that he's involved in everything from honey production to sales.
This is how he came up with the idea of "Uncle Bee Beard".
It's well-received in Japan
"Very satisfied!
This hive honey was delicious with an elegant sweetness.
It also had a very nice aftertaste.
It was very soft and delicious.
I will definitely be back for more".
"It was very tasty.
The synergistic effect of the reassurance that it was made in Japan made it even tastier.
The sweetness was not too strong and refreshing.”.
How to enjoy
It is of course delicious eaten as is, but it can also be cut into bite-sized pieces with a knife and served with ice cream or on toast.
*Please do not feed to infants under 12 months of age.
